Understanding registration options: quiz, self-appraisal, standard learning plan and catalogue access

Overview

Registration on the Skill Dynamics platform can be completed through different options, including quiz assessment, self-appraisal, standard learning plans, and catalogue access. Each option is designed to support learner enrollment and provide access to relevant learning content based on role or individual needs.

In some cases, a manager review process may also be required, where the manager reviews and approves the learning plan before it is assigned to the learner’s account.

Quiz

The quiz option is a structured assessment designed around specific competencies required for the learner’s role. It consists of a series of questions, typically around four per competency, and takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. Learners are expected to answer each question based on their knowledge and experience across the defined skill areas.

Most questions may have multiple correct answers, so it is important to read each question carefully before responding. Learners can proceed through the assessment using the ‘Continue Assessment’ button and may review or change their answers at any time using the ‘Go Back’ option. While it is recommended to complete the quiz in one sitting, learners can return and continue later if needed.

Once the quiz is completed, the system evaluates the responses and generates a personalised learning plan based on the results, highlighting areas for further development and supporting the learner’s growth path.

Self-Appraisal

The self-appraisal option allows learners to assess their own competency levels based on their role requirements. It involves answering a series of questions where learners reflect on their skills, knowledge, and experience across defined areas.

This process helps identify perceived strengths and development areas and can be completed at the learner’s own pace. Once submitted, the results contribute to determining the most suitable learning path or supporting the assignment of a relevant learning plan within Skill Dynamics.

Standard Learning Plan

The standard learning plan option is a predefined set of courses assigned to learners based on their role requirements. It provides a structured learning path that ensures consistent skill development aligned with job expectations.

Once assigned, the learner can access the courses directly through their learning plan in Skill Dynamics and complete them in sequence or as scheduled. Progress is tracked within the platform to ensure completion of all required training.

Catalogue

The catalogue option allows learners to access a wide range of available courses during registration without being assigned a fixed learning plan. It enables self-directed learning, where learners can browse and select courses based on their individual interests or development needs.

Once selected, courses are added to the learner’s account and can be completed at their own pace through Skill Dynamics.

Manager Review

The manager review process is where the assigned learning plan is reviewed and approved by the learner’s manager before it is activated in Skill Dynamics. During this step, the manager can adjust the learning plan by adding or removing courses to better align it with role requirements and development needs.

Once the review is completed and approved, the learning plan is assigned to the learner’s account for completion.
